High Impact
Landfill as an end point for commercial waste is an archaic concept that commercially is in decline. Alternative solutions for dealing with the disposal of waste from businesses are required that meet commercial, operational and ethical standards.
the green house has built an impressive network of alternative solutions that it currently offers its clients – resulting in increased levels of sustainability, transparency and reduction in costs.
the green house has particular experience in commodity trading and can help businesses turn waste from a cost into a valuable resource generating revenues from materials such as cardboard, plastics and cooking oil.
What is high-impact?
the green house has years of experience in creating better waste and recycling services for businesses. Most companies do not look closely at how they operate and organise their company-wide services and as a result they are more than likely paying too much for services they do not even need.
the green house can work with your existing in-house resources to make your waste and recycling services more efficient. the green house will not take over the management of services and you will not have to cancel any existing services – think of this service as a consultancy with payment only for results.
Performing a full waste audit
To move forward you have to know where you are now. the green house will create a master database of information about each site and each service along with all the relevant information that is required.
It is not uncommon for businesses to have data spread across different departments or even not have it at all so even on its own the green house audit will help you to understand where your business is with its services.
Undertaking store surveys
The best people to speak to regarding the quality and success of services is the personnel on site themselves.
the green house will organise simple question and answer sessions with key personnel to establish genuine feedback on past performance but also to generate ideas on future possibilities.
Speaking with suppliers
Many companies have not spoken with their waste collection company’s since they signed their original contracts and as a result have no idea what services they are receiving or what services are on offer.
Without having to actually change contractors the green house can add value by rationalising current services so they become efficient.
Analysing the waste streams
One of the most important parts of High-impact is understanding exactly what waste is being produced in the company. Different wastes have different possibilities and it is not uncommon for businesses to be paying great sums of money for services that could be brought together making life simpler but also saving a lot of money.
the green house will perform visual and technical analysis to establish the volumes, quantities and types of waste so that we can make recommendations based on this.
Collaborate with other departments
Whilst most businesses still do not have a dedicated environmental department there are still functions within the business that are responsible for parts of it.
Most businesses have a CSR policy now for example so it is important the each department has an input into the high-impact process so that the solution the green house puts forward encompasses the needs of everyone within the business.
Technical Analysis
Most national companies that operate multiple sites use a standard process for establishing the requirements at each location.
For example, estimating the number of staff required, the number of cleaning hours, the delivery times, the busiest hours etc and the green house believes that waste is no different.
Using our own unique technical analysis the green house is able to establish common parameters for waste and recycling service requirements at each store which will allow the business to control its costs and establish the services that are needed.
Report Driven
The delivery of the high-impact analysis is in the form of an initial report that is delivered to the client. At this point the business faces a decision based on the content of the initial report. If the savings are great enough and the benefits to the business are tangible then the business will want to implement the recommendations. This can be done entirely or in parts, leaving some recommendations and accepting others. That is up to you.
the green house will then implement the accepted recommendations and will charge a fee based on a percentage of the amount of money the recommendations will save the client. For example, if you have a £500,000 spend on waste and following the High-impact analysis this spend can be rationalised to £300,000 the fee will be based on the saving of £200,000.
Beyond the implementation of the recommendations there is also a requirement for someone to manage the services on a daily basis. For this the green house offers its Key Account Management service
