British designer Giles Miller continues to feed the eco-hungry with his innovative cardboard collection. This ever-expanding and highly original range includes seating, tables, lights, storage pieces and even handbags and laptop cases. Recently commissioned to create an installation for the Lighthouse Gallery in Glasgow, Giles created a giant hanging lighting sculpture which boasted his classic floral pattern on its glowing surface. As part of the same installation, Giles created his latest cardboard product, a Chesterfield sofa with a lattice structure and the usual charm combined with its worthy green credentials.

I use recycled fragments mixed with paint, glue and stitching to create energetic and intricate collages. Often they are based on places I have visited, incorporating tickets and scraps from my handbag.
Since completing my degree in Architecture at Sheffield University, I have been working part time as an architectural assistant in Derbyshire. The way I approach my art is very different from the precise, measured way I design and draw buildings at work, though I enjoy the variety of work I do.
