Packaging, do we really need that much?

Categories: Card, Environment, Recycling, the green house

We all buy stuff from eBay and Amazon from time to time. We choose the product we like, add it to the basket, pay and have it delivered to our doors in few days. Sometimes we even sell some goods as well. We put the product up for sale, sell it and ship it. In both of above scenarios we are very cautious about getting the goods delivered in one piece, either we are a buyer or seller. This is when we consider packaging.

Can eco=brand?

Categories: Business, Environment, the green house

I’ve been posting a bit on Twitter about whether or not businesses can generate brand value out of embracing sustainability. FREE MONEY (Energy Production Required)

Categories: Environment, the green house

On April 1st 2010 the government launches a new scheme called ‘Clean Energy Cashback’. A lot has been written about it but, sadly, the reason for that is because, well, not a lot has been written about it. Don’t forget to look at the bigger picture!

A couple of weeks ago I attended the annual MRW Retailers Waste and Recycling Conference in London. the green house were actually due to host the first day workshops at the event but the credit crunch had firmly done its ob and delegate numbers were disapointingly low and it was pulled.I went along anyway because a few of our clients were attending but also because one of our key accounts, Lush, the natural health and beauty retailer, were one of the keynote speakers. The talk was given by Ruth Andrade the Environmental Officer for Lush UK and a very passionate and active environmentalist.

Where do you want me to stick that?

Categories: Environment, General Waste

I have lost a bit of space in my kitchen after purchasing a tumble dryer, so I thought I would have a shop around for a two or three compartment waste/recycling bin, which I must say  is a step in the right direction to becoming more environmentally friendly. However, I am afraid the thought is a far as it goes, as when I began my search for such a product, my credit crunch diminished finances could not stomach the cost of these environmentally sound segregated containers.

Landfill Mining. A Reality in the UK?

Categories: Business, Environment, Plastic, Recycling

I just finished an interview with a magazine who are writing a piece on whether or not landfill mining is set to become a reality in the UK, the same way it has in America over the last couple of years.
